Since forming McPhee Productions, we have created films and videos for a very wide range of clients and their challenging requirements. These have included short 2 minute news-style stories to sophisticated 2 minute highly polished infomercials, to television documentaries through to highly researched and crafted short dramas for Federal agencies.
Karl has a B.A. Dip.Ed. and a background as a tutor in education, linguistics and communications at Macquarie University and NSW Institute of Technology (now UTS). Exhibiting diverse experience, he writes and directs both films and television series, as well as corporate videos.
He directed the highly acclaimed Australia’s Most Wanted for Grundy's and special projects for the ABC such as the live 2-hour broadcast, The Royal Bicentennial Salute which is now available on cassette. In Canada, he designed and installed the multi-million-dollar hit of the 1986 World Expo: the Australian Pavilion.
However, if Karl McPhee has a speciality it's the social docu-drama, which many clients find extremely useful in delivering their message.

Karl McPhee is a national and international award-winning writer/producer/director of top-rated television dramas and social documentaries. Karl's film experience spans 20 years, with 10 years at Film Australia as a Director. He has also worked for the Australian Broadcasting Commission.
